Beginning January 2010 Brenda Dumont Consulting was created as the latest section of Brenda Dumont’s career which has focused on recruitment, primarily for the retail and hospitality industries in Canada.
Brenda Dumont Consulting takes Brenda’s retail/hospitality recruitment devotion and adds value by including social media to recruit. To best assist clients, Brenda has worked with her clients to understand and take the first steps into effective participation in social media, with emphasis on using social media to recruit.
Brenda’s entire career has involved working with or for the retail and hospitality industries in Canada and has enjoyed every minute. The common thread of my career apart from retail hospitality recruitment has been new approaches, format and challenges in recruitment.
Social Media is so apparently a huge new tool in the recruiting and branding toolboxes and Brenda is energized to work with her clients in this new approach. Not only are new social network platforms emerging daily, but the recruitment role is evolving into different aspects with talent acquisition, sourcing, recruiting, onboarding and candidate care all being considered individual spokes in the recruiting and HR wheel.
Brenda created one of Canada’s first niche job boards and worked in the job board platform for nearly 10 years. She has begun to provide consulting on effective job board operation as well as working with clients to improve their career sites to allow maximum candidate utilization.
Brenda is routinely referred to the retail recruiting guru in Canada. She’ll tell you that’s overstated but will readily admit to I over thirty years in various forms of recruitment in Canada. She has worked as a corporate Human Resources Manager and Director of Training for a major retailer, (Woodward’s Stores) owned and operated her own retail recruitment firm for 10 years, (Dumont & Associates Retail Recruitment) and owned and operated Canada’s first retail-only niche job board (canadianretail.com). Canadianretail.com was sold to CanWest in late 2005 and Brenda then consulted to CanWest through to late 2009, working on their online recruitment property, www.working.com – primarily in the retail and hospitality verticals. Brenda often speaks at retail and recruitment seminars and conferences on various recruitment and social media topics.
Brenda is a late baby boomer, a proud Canadian, an obsessive over-the-top gardener, a hockey fan, a dedicated community volunteer, a foodie, boat nut (from canoes to cruise ships), and the proud owner of Holly (Chocolate Lab) and Ivy (Pembroke Welsh Corgi).
